About Sommly

Hello!

I'm Dan, the person behind Sommly. Part wine nerd in training, part web dev, who kept thinking, "there must be a better way to find out what wine tastings are actually happening near me."

I started Sommly because I was tired of missing the good stuff. The UK has a brilliant independent wine scene. Tastings in neighbourhood bottle shops, masterclasses from passionate importers, supper clubs and wine dinners run by people who genuinely love what they do. But finding them usually meant scrolling through Instagram, piecing together half-remembered recommendations, or just getting lucky.

So I built one place to discover wine events across the UK, from quiet Tuesday tastings to proper sit-down wine dinners. Search by postcode, browse by style, or just see what's on nearby this weekend.

Sommly is very much a work in progress. I'm adding venues and events as I go, working with independent organisers who want to reach more people, and drinking my way through my own WSET journey in the background. If things look a bit unfinished in places, that's because they are. I'm learning as I build.
