About this event
We’ve taken our Historic Tours and decided to add another layer. This is a very limited ticketed guided tour of Tanners will look closely at how to read an old building, what’s hidden in plain sight. Alix Chidley-Uttley takes us on an in depth look at this famous and beautiful old building. From the masonry and layout to the small details that reveal how the building was used over time and how our superstitions take a daily role. We shall discuss the expansive history of the building but also looking at features that reveal its age, Victorian imitation and the medieval real deal – so many eras under one roof. Along the way Alix will talk about the history of Tanners and the building’s long working life. The evening begins with a glass of fizz on arrival. Please note as this event requires guests to go into smaller cellars and spaces of the building, we have very limited tickets avaliable.
