About this event
Join Sophie and Robert Bodenstein for a rare opportunity to discover Weingut Prager, one of Austria’s most acclaimed wineries. Taste six exceptional Grüner Veltliners and Rieslings while exploring the unique vineyards, traditions and terroir that have made the Wachau Valley famous around the world.
Austria’s Wachau Valley is home to some of the world’s finest white wines, and few estates have shaped its reputation more than Weingut Prager. For generations, the Prager and Bodenstein families have been custodians of some of the region’s greatest vineyard sites, producing Grüner Veltliner and Riesling of extraordinary purity, elegance and longevity. Join us for a rare opportunity to discover one of Austria’s most celebrated wineries, hosted by Sophie and Robert Bodenstein, who now lead the estate into its next generation.
Dating back more than 300 years, Weingut Prager combines centuries of tradition with a forward-thinking approach to sustainable viticulture. Working exclusively with the steep terraced vineyards of the Wachau, Robert and Sophie are committed to allowing each site to express its own unique character. Their philosophy is beautifully simple: “Quality arises from calm.” Every vineyard is farmed with patience and respect, producing wines of remarkable clarity, precision and finesse that have earned Prager a place amongst the world’s finest white wine estates.
Over two relaxed hours at Loki Edgbaston, you’ll explore six exceptional wines that reveal the diversity of the Wachau, from elegant Federspiel wines to powerful Smaragd bottlings from some of Austria’s most revered vineyard sites. Along the way, Robert and Sophie will share the family’s remarkable story, explain the unique Wachau classifications, and demonstrate why Grüner Veltliner and Riesling have become two of the world’s most admired white grape varieties.
