The Burgundy of South Africa: An Evening with Winemaker Nico Grobler, La Brune

On Monday 14th September we are delighted to welcome Nico Grobler, owner & winemaker of La Brune, Elgin Valley to Davy’s. Elgin is considered the Burgundy of South Africa because it is the country’s coolest wine region, it’s high altitude and Atlantic breezes allow for the slow ripening that gives Chardonnay and Pinot Noir their signature elegance and freshness. Nico will be in the UK exclusively to join us at Champagne Charlies, Charing Cross for an unmissable tasting of his exceptional wines with a focus on fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Following on from the tasting, enjoy a three-course dinner alongside Nico’s The Valley and La Brune, showcasing the exceptional 2025 vintage and the distinct character of each range. Throughout the evening, Nico will share the story behind his wines, his journey from Burgundy to Elgin, and his philosophy of crafting wines that truly reflect their origin. Format for the evening: 6:15pm – Welcome drink – 2025 The Valley Sauvignon Blanc; 6:30pm – Tasting – 2025 The Valley Chardonnay, 2025 La Brune Chardonnay, 2025 The Valley Pinot Noir, 2025 La Brune Pinot Noir; 7:45pm – Three-course dinner served with wine pairings; 9:30pm – Estimated conclusion of evening.
