About this event

While rosé has been a summer favourite for many years, it's safe to say that orange wine - made from white grapes that linger a little longer on their skins than usual during fermentation and beyond - is now a bona fide category in its own right. The length of time of this "skin contact" is what ensures the variety these wines have to offer - Georgian Amber wine can be buried in huge clay vessels called "Qvevri" under the ground for months; skins, stalks and all, a nod to how wine was enjoyed thousands of years ago. But there are a myriad of styles in between in a kaleidoscope of colours, textures and grip, often made by a new wave of winemakers who pursue organic, biodynamic and low-intervention practices in the vineyard and winery. Tonight we'll taste examples from across a category that embraces experimentation, eschewing classical flavour profiles in search of the unusual, the exotic and the outrageously delicious. Don't be the last to know about orange wines! Time for the new old school. Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
