About this event

Join us on Tuesday, 15th September for The taste of the soil: a technical workshop with the Consorzio of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG at the Institute of Masters of Wine. Building on our sessions exploring Rive and terroir, this workshop, with Sarah Abbott MW and Diego Tomasi, Director of the Consortium, invites you to discover the mosaic of soils that characterise the DOCG Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco. Nestled between Venice and the Dolomites, this distinctive landscape of continuous rolling hills is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Led by Prof. Diego Tomasi, this workshop draws on his years of research into the relationship between soil type and the flavour compounds of grapes and wine. Through the tasting of carefully selected wines, we will explore how the region’s diverse soil types are expressed in the glass, before examining the importance of the Charmat method as a tool that enables Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco to achieve a level of complexity and quality worthy of serious analytical attention. This event is open to wine trade and media.
