World of Wine - Alsace, Germany, Austria & Hungary

Welcome to the South London World of Wines tasting on Alsace, Germany, Austria and Hungary. Time to discover some of the most aromatic and interesting white wines of Europe as well as some tasty reds! We explore diverse styles from these regions. Alsace Riesling and Gewurztraminer are found here side-by-side with Pinot Blanc and Gris, all adding to a small-but-complex wine-producing region offering the most aromatic and different styles in comparison to the rest of France. These wines can vary from dry to sweet, but all have a fantastically complex quality, and are great wines to match to intense and spicy foods ! Germany: Yes, there is Riesling here, but let's also enjoy some reds - Germany's Spätburgunder is the same variety that is called Pinot Noir in France, and parts of Germany make some excellent examples. There's also full-bodied Dornfelder. Austria & Hungary: We'll explore the key varieties these countries are known for, including Gruner Veltliner and Furmint. All tastings include; minimum of 6 wines, tasting sheet, use of professional tasting glasses and delicious nibbles to go with.
