World of Wine Tasting: Argentina with Tomas from Vinyes Ocults

Let us whisk you away to Argentina with Tomás Stahringer from Vinyes Ocults at Humble Grape Liverpool Street. Argentine wine is full of surprises. Travel up into the Andes and the scenery changes by the mile, from dusty desert to poplar-lined vineyards, with snow-capped peaks always on the horizon. The wines change with it: one glass is fresh and floral, the next deep and powerful, another sweet enough to end the night on. It's a country that rewards anyone willing to look a little closer. This November, we're bringing a taste of it to Humble Grape with Tomás Stahringer from Vinyes Ocults. Mendoza is Argentina's wine heartland. It's home to most of the country's wineries and some of its finest Malbec. The region sits at the foot of the Andes, where hot high-desert days ripen the grapes fully and chilly nights keep everything fresh and lively. At this two-hour tasting, we'll follow the Andes across Mendoza, from crisp sparkling and fragrant Viognier to bold, structured Malbec and a sweet Torrontés to finish. Tomás and our wine team will be your guides. They'll pour six wines, starting with a welcome glass of Philippe Gonet Champagne, and share the stories behind the vineyards, the terroir and the people who make it all happen.
